Guitar Hero leads paid-for Android Market drive

If one thing has rung true from CasualGaming.biz’s ongoing iPhone Month, it’s that the Apple App Store is just as important, if not more so, to the casual games industry as the iPhone itself, and now Google has unveiled its response – paid for content on the Android Market.

And importantly for the platform, a specific Android version of Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile is on the way, according to The Guardian.

A number of games are already available on the Android Market, such as Pac-Man and Glu’s Brain Genius Deluxe, but the arrival of Premium content, expected in North America by the end of the week, should bring with it a sea-change to the service – particularly as no games to date have troubled the top of the Android downloads charts.

Specifically, mega-hit Guitar Hero will be the perfect front for the portal, and will of course work with the touch screen of the market’s current sole Android device, the T-Mobile G1.

A number of other big titles are on the way, too, including Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Tetris and Monopoly.
