T-Mobile G1, it's a millionair

Image representing High Tech Computer Corporat...The latest figures are simply astounding; The G1 pre-orders sales have reached 1.5 million units meaning T-mobile have sold their entire pre-orders stock. Besides, HTC had tripled the order and all was sold as well in no time.

This simply tops all the expectations T-Mobile and HTC had for the G1 and it proves that the interest for Android is very much real and alive.

HTC will be shipping millions of new G1s from October 23rd and be sure to order yours! Getting your hands on the G1 might just be a bigger struggle than expected!!

Android effect and the (HTC) diamond

Image representing HTC as depicted in CrunchBaseTaiwanese phone makers HTC are doing well as they have announced a 30% increase of September revenues reaching 13,7 billion Taiwanese dollars (over 420 million dollars) compared to the same period last year.

For 2008 third trimester, their total revenues amounted to 37,86 billion taiwanese dollars (over 1,16 billion dollars), 30% more than last year's third trimester.

HTC's good form is mainly due to their latest smartphone, the HTC diamond, with over a million units already shipped worldwide. But this is also due to Android, for which HTC are producing the first smartphone. They are expecting to ship between 400 000 and 500 000 units before the end of the year and plan to sell for the whole year between 13 and 15 million G1 phones. Despite these rough financial times, some seem to be doing pretty well!

G1 expected to sell well

Image representing High Tech Computer Corporat...Taiwanese news site CENS believes that T-Mobile will sell around 400 000 to 500 000 G1 phones within the first quarter.

According to the same source, T-Mobile will also order up to 2 million additionnal phones, giving HTC a huge boost.

The half million sales prediction is only half of what the first iPhone did in the first quarter but it is still a very good score in the saturated smartphone market.

Besides Nokia's recent annoucement of their touchscreen phone running on Symbian, 2009 is the year for smartphones, and surely Android's year.
