iSkoot makes it to Android

Image representing iSkoot as depicted in Crunc...iSkoot announced today its app iSkoot for Skype is now available on Android Market. iSkoot for Skype is Android's first VoIP application.

You will be able to keep in touch with friends and call your Skype contacts. The press release also states that no Wifi connection is needed and that "Normal carrier voice and data charges always apply".

This is simply because iSkoot actually makes SkypeOut calls and the call goes though a local server to reach a Skype contact. This means that you don't need to be connected to a Wifi network or to be in a 3G covered area to make these calls.

iSkoot on Android also means the app runs in the background and will let you know in real time when you receive a new message.
